Associate professor of sociology at the Faculty of Law, University of Rijeka, Croatia. He teaches General Sociology, Sociology of Law and Sociology of Tourism. His main areas of research are regionalism and ethnic identity. Author of two books and more than thirty articles. Member of the Council of Europe’s expert team on the “Intercultural Dialogue and Conflict Prevention Project” (/). His recent publications in Croatian include: the book Belonging, Identity, Territory (), “Modernity, Space and the Construction of Identity” (), “The Open Questions of European identity” ().

Master of Political Science, research assistant and PhD candidate at the Institute for International Politics of the Helmut-Schmidt-University – University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg/Germany. Mem- ber of the Hamburg Working Group on the Causes of War and of the German Southeast Europe. Main fields of interest: peace and conflict studies; internal wars, war economies and micro-sociology of rebel groups; democratisation and transformation processes in developing and post-socialist countries; peace, nation, state and identity building processes in post-war societies; the internet in international and developmental politics. Regional specialisation: Latin America, Northeast India, and the Balkans.
