Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse
Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse is set in , Edward Stubblefield â âStubbsâ to his loved ones â was hawking brushes and bibles door to door when he was murdered and buried in a remote Pennsylvania field. His rotting carcass pushed up daisies for 24 years until billionaire playboy industrialist Andrew Monday decided to develop said field and create Punchbowl, PA as a monument to himself. In a nod to Poltergeist, Stubbs rises from his grave to terrorize the living and get bloody revenge. The operative being âbloody,â because Wideload did not skimp on the violence, wearing its M-rating proudly.
The game does takes its gore seriously, as Stubbs pokes holes into the heads of everyone he can, eats their brains, uses entrails and rectal emissions as weaponry, uses his head as a rabid bowling ball, and best of all, he can rip off his arm which he then controls remotely. Of course, those whose brains are consumed become zombies themselves, so youâll begin to amass a small army of dedicated, if brain dead, minions.
This game is completely about action, and if it has one issue, it’s that the whole thing ends way too soon. With only a six hour playing time, you’ll likely end up desperately craving more brains. Of course, you can artificially extend the life of the game by making your own funâtry zombifying every human on each level. Stubbs also possesses an uncanny knack for getting lost (the undead must have a crappy sense of direction or something), as itâs sometimes unclear where youâre supposed to shamble next.
