Problem opening downloaded XLS files in Excel for Windows
As of 14 July , some users have reported an issue with opening reports and other files downloaded from Eventsforce in Excel for Windows. The symptom is that Excel will start, but the document will not be opened. This issue is not isolated to Eventsforce and has been reported widely by users of other web software.
This problem is caused by a recent update to Microsoft Office. To solve this problem:
- Right-click on the downloaded file and choose "Properties"
- Click the "Unblock" checkbox or button at the bottom-right and click OK
- Double-click the downloaded file to open it in Excel
You must do this for each file that you download.
A second workaround is to move downloaded files to a folder that is in your "Trusted locations" list in Excel before opening them.
Finally, it is possible to avoid this problem for all files by uninstalling Microsoft Security Update KB or KB, we do not recommend that you do this, however.
