Newest version of google chrome download

There are several slightly different versions of Google Chrome - the latest version depends on which platform you are using.

Stable branch of Chrome:

They are all basically the same version of Chrome - typically containing the same functionality and features across platforms - however you'll notice in the table above that usually the very last version number fragment is different between the various platforms.

Do you need to know what version of Chrome do I have?

"I have the latest version of Chrome OS but you say my Chrome Browser is out of date!"

Sometimes you might find if you're running Chrome OS (Google's Operating System for ChromeBooks), you might get a warning on our homepage saying that your version of Chrome Browser is out of date - even though you're running the latest version of Chrome OS.

There are two factors in this happening:

• Chrome OS is based on the underlying technology of the Chrome browser - this is why the version numbers of Chrome OS and Chrome Browser are always almost identical - eg Chrome OS v78 ships with Chrome Browser v
• Chrome OS needs the technology of latest version of Chrome Browser to be finalised before Chrome OS can be finalised - eg Chrome OS v79 can't be finalised if the technology for Chrome Browser v79 isn't ready first.

So there's often a short lag between the latest version of Chrome Browser being released and then the corresponding version of Chrome OS also being released. In that short window of time (usually only a few days), you might have the latest version of Chrome OS (no updates are available), but in the mean time the next version of Chrome Browser has been released.

This is a normal part of using Chromebooks and there's nothing you can do about it - it's probably nothing to worry about.

Chrome on Computers

If you need to install Chrome on a Desktop computer, you can download Chrome directly from Google.

Chrome on Android - Phones and Tablets

If you want Chrome on an Android device you can get it from: Google Chrome on Google Play Store.

Chrome on iOS - iPhones and iPads

If you want Chrome on your iOS device - either an iPhone, an iPad (or even iPod), you'll need to use the Apple App Store: Google Chrome on Apple iTunes App Store

Chrome is a great web browser

Chrome is available for pretty much all computer platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhones/iPads. I use Chrome for the majority of my web browsing and recommend it as the best browser available.

I like that Chrome auto-updates itself, because it means that when I'm using it I know I'm always using the latest and safest version possible. That's also why I recommend it to my friends and family; because they may not otherwise take the time to manually update their web browser. If they're using Chrome then I know they'll have a patched and safe browser.
