Where to download xml file for income tax return

You can file ITR1 income tax return for free by using the Income Tax website of the Government of India.

The following are two easy ways in which you can file your ITR1 income tax return for FREE:

1. The first way is by using Microsoft Excel or Java utility.
   In this case, you can either fill entire details by yourself or can fill partial details by importing pre-filled XML
2. The second way is by directly filling your income details on the income tax website.

You will require following details

1. Form 16, Income details
2. Aadhar No, Personal details
3. Investments, Deduction details (if any)
4. House property details (if any)
5. Donation details (if any)
6. Bank account details

Login to Income Tax website &#;

Import pre-filled XML into ITR1 form

Open the ITR1 Form (not the XML file)

Click on Enable Content.
Subsequently, click on Enable Editing.

Press &#;Import from XML&#; to import the downloaded XML file

Verify pre-filled information

After successful import of pre-filled XML, verify your details such as your personal details, incomes, tax deducted as sources etc.

Add income, investment, and other information

Refer to your Form 16, and enter your income details in ITR1 form.

Calculate the Income Tax

Click on &#;Calculate Tax&#;

Now you can see Tax Paid and Refund amount information

Click on &#;Generate XML&#; and then click on &#;Save XML&#;.

File the Income Tax Return
