I can't seem to play any audio files directly in Google Drive anymore from any player. 0 Recommended Answers 9 Replies Upvotes
I access Google Drive within Microsoft Edge and have just recently been having problems playing audio files.
I'm a musician with s of music files of various formats I've previously been able to play within Drive using 'Music Player For Google Drive' but recently it hasn't been working.  It instead gives an error message "Sorry! We are unable to play this song."  Then when I mouse over the error, a bubble pops up saying "Your browser may not support this audio format. Try installing Flash."  Flash is already enabled in Edge.

I've never had this problem before.  I even tried a few other players, and the audio just won't play.  I even downloaded Google Chrome, to access Google Drive from that browser, which I thought would work, but I get the same error messages when I try to play audio.
Every 7th or 8th attempt to play something will work. But if I try again, it won't work.
Is anyone else experiencing this and has found a fix?  Is this an issue with Google?  I could begin to download and play using VLC player but I liked the convenience of being able to play within Drive.

I have this same problem. If I go to my Google drive through the files app on my chromebook rather than through the Google drive on the internet, the files automatically play through "audio player" app on my chromebook. But I cannot get it to play if I am on the internet and access Google drive.

Same problem here, it started at the beginning of last week.  The app on my phone is working fine to play files but everything browser-based is dead in the water.

Was having same problem. Cleared my browser cache. I’m using Chrome on iPhone. A Google search brought up easy instructions on how to do this.   After cache clear, closed out of everything on my phone. Deleted Drive app on my phone then reloaded it. Signed back in. A miracle - now tunes play. Not sure if the cache clear was instrumental in this or not.
CloudBeats app still wouldn’t play from my Google Drive audio files though so did same thing. Deleted app on phone, reloaded from cloud, signed out of  Google Drive in the app settings and then back in again. Another miracle, all working again. Phew! Hopefully this will be useful for fellow musicians out there. What a sinking feeling when you sit down to practice and your entire library is silent.

Exact same problem and symptoms.  Also, it started around the same time as the OP.  Windows 10 using Microsoft Edge, or Chrome - same result.  Never had a problem before.

I am having the same issue.  Music Player for Google Drive used to play the numerous audio files (including various types of files) and playlists in my Google Drive easily and consistently.  Beginning about a week ago, Music Player for Google Drive has COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING.
On Google Chrome, I now only get the error message:
"Sorry!  We are unable to play this song.  Your browser might not support this audio format.  Try installing Flash."
I have tried installing, enabling, and updating Flash to no avail:
"Sorry!  We are unable to play this song.  Your browser might not support this audio format."
I receive this error message for ALL my mp3 files as well as wav files which ALL WORKED PERFECTLY prior to this recent Google product breakdown.
When will this product be repaired?
What other options exist to create and save audio playlists of files stored on Google Drive?
Thank you very much for your assistance with this.

After the 'Music Player for Google Drive' stopped working, I spent a lot of time looking for a player that can play music from google drive. Finally I found a browser-based music player and which supports the creation of playlists. Go directly to the site rushbrookrathbone.co.uk or see in the G Suite Marketplace.

It seems that everything turns back around to controlling the 'money stream' .. . starting from discontinuing Win 7 into 'heavy App-based Win 8, etc. [Remember 'Google Call', before 'Hangouts', when you could place free nationwide calls from w/in your Gmail email account]. Whereas Google Drive based music could be played from Drive in your browser (wi-fi) using 'Music Player for Google Drive' (files can be saved to be accessed offline as well)   regardless if device was $$ carrier-operational or not. And now, they're driving the market to be App-($/carrier)-based all the more, again .. still. I used to enjoy listening to music on a 'speaker-type' box that had ports for memory cards, go to a store now and you won't find one; they're designed for 'bluetooth'; internet connection a mu$t.  Kudos.
