How to Create a Bukkit Minecraft Server (Windows) * EASIEST WAY

Introduction: How to Create a Bukkit Minecraft Server (Windows) * EASIEST WAY

An Easy Step By Step Guide on How To Create A Dedicated Minecraft Server With Bukkit and Without Hamachi.
**PLEASE READ**
When clicking on links please right-click and select open in new tab, it makes things a lot easier.

Step 1: Download Required Server Materials and Create Server Folder

You will need one out of two thingsEither a Bukkit server base or a Vanilla server baseEither one will work but I am going to show you how to set up A Bukkit server because you can do more things with it like use plugins or server mods

Create a folder where you want to place your server like on your desktop or in your documents then download Bukkit here and place in your server folder. I recommend you download the recommended build and make sure that the Bukkit server is able to run the latest update to Minecraft.

Step 2: Open the Command Prompt and Type "ipconfig"

If you have Windows Vista, 7, or 8 in the search bar type "cmd" and then press enter.
If you have any earlier version of windows the command prompt should be located in your Accessories Folder.

Once opened type: "ipconfig" and press enter
You will get a bunch of information but all you need to worry about is the current IPv4 address and the default gateway located near the top. If you cannot find what i'm talking about look at the picture.

Step 3: Get Into Router Settings

Open an internet browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome(which I am using) and in the address type your default gateway (as mentioned in the previous step).

Your browser will then ask you for a password, most of the time the password is "password" however there are a few exceptionsif your router password is not "password" look here for your default password.

Step 4: Edit the Router Settings to Port Forward

Once logged in you get a page similar to the image below.

To set up port forwarding you will want to head over to the Port Forwarding/Port Triggering option in the menu(this could be under Advanced Settings in different router models). You will have to log in again.

Once in the Port Forwarding/Port Triggering menu add a new/custom service. Make sure you are port forwarding NOT port triggering.

When creating your custom service, make sure your settings are EXACTALLY the same as these:
Service Type: BOTH TCP and UDP (Usually Listed as TCP/UDP) NOT one or the other
Starting Port:
Ending Port:
Server IP Address: Same as you IPv4 address mentioned earlier (Found in command prompt using "ipconfig" command).
The Service Name can be anything you want it to be.

Hit apply and restart your router if necessary

Step 5: Setting Up Bukkit

Open the folder where you placed your bukkit server zip file. Open up notepad or any other text editor and copy and paste this text into it and save it as "rushbrookrathbone.co.uk" (If it doesn't save as a batch file leave the quotation marks when saving):

java -XmsM -XmxM -jar rushbrookrathbone.co.uk -o true
PAUSE

If that doesn't work switch "java" with the location of your "rushbrookrathbone.co.uk" program which should be located within your program files. It should look something like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\rushbrookrathbone.co.uk" -XmsM -XmxM -jar rushbrookrathbone.co.uk -o true
PAUSE

If it will not run change your craftbukkit zip file name to "craftbukkit." And if that doesn't work change the line in the batch file where it says "rushbrookrathbone.co.uk" to "your Craftbukkit file rushbrookrathbone.co.uk"

Once completed a command prompt will open up and you will get something like the picture below
Many new files will be loaded into the folder where you put your batch file and craftbukkit zip file. Close the prompt by typing "stop" and then pressing any key when it tells you to. In the rushbrookrathbone.co.ukTIES file, open it up with notepad and make sure the server-ip portion of the text is blank then you are ready to continue to the final step.

Step 6: Finding Out Your IP and Running the Server

Go here to find your IP for the server you will be running. Once found, plugin that IP for the server IP Minecraft asks for and you will be running your very own server (As long as the rushbrookrathbone.co.uk file is runn, ing).
