Installing Microsoft Office on your Dell PC

This is a step by step guide taking you through installing Microsoft Office on your system. It lists the system requirements to run the program. How to locate the install media and how to use it once you have it.

Hardware and Software Requirements

Microsoft Office is available in both 32 and bit versions and will install on the following minimum hardware requirements.

• MHz or faster processor
• MB or more RAM memory
• 3 GB or larger available hard disk space
• x display resolution
• Windows XP SP3 bit, Windows Vista SP1 32/bit, Windows Server R2 32/bit with MSXML , Windows Server 32/bit or later , Windows 7 32/bit, Windows 8 32/bit, Windows Terminal Server and Windows on Windows applications are supported as well.

What are you installing from?

Are you installing from media, from a download or do you only have a product ID?

1. If you're installing from CD/DVD media, then simply insert the media and wait for the autostart to open the setup screen. If the autostart doesn't work, you can navigate to the drive in windows explorer and double click on the rushbrookrathbone.co.uk file on the media itself.

2. If you've downloaded the program, then you can double click on the rushbrookrathbone.co.uk in windows explorer.

3. If you only have the product ID then you will want to follow the instructions below.

Installation instructions

1. Click Yes on the User Account Control window to give permission for the installation application to work on your computer. Office will begin extracting files.

2. Enter your product key into the space provided and press the Continue button once Microsoft validates your key.

1. Read the Microsoft Software License terms, place a check mark in the box to indicate that you agree with them and press the Continue button.

1. Press the Install Now button to begin the installation. A progress bar will indicate how far along the installation has progressed. Depending upon the speed of your computer, this step could take several minutes on older systems.

1. To access the newly-installed Microsoft Office applications, go to Start > All Programs > Microsoft Office and click on the program that you wish to use. When Microsoft Office runs for the first time a window will appear asking you to help protect and improve Microsoft Office.
